Sustained Dialogue at Appalachian is part of the international Sustained Dialogue Institute (opens in a new tab)program that prepares community members to deeply engage in difficult conversations ranging from race, gender identity and religion to politics and various global challenges.
The process is deeply grounded in listening and respect and works towards enhancing individuals' abilities to listen and carry out respectful conversations around conflicting views and global challenges.
The goal for this program at Appalachian is to build a more cohesive, engaged, and understanding campus community through dialogue.
